• Joseph Laird (b: 22 Nov 1860) **FOUND** baptised at the Ballyarnett Presbyterian Church in Londonderry Northern Ireland. Joseph emigrated to Australia and arrived in Melbourne on the SS Cuzco in April 1884. His father was a William Laird (Bogstown, Templemore) and mother Ann Laird (nee Laird) from Carrygawley, Donegal. Joseph left a brother Thomas and sister Mary back on the farm (Bogstown) in Ireland. The youngest brother Richard also emigrated to Australia in 1886. More

• We have 2 letters from a Sgt John Laird 6th US Cavalry 1865 back to his family in Londonderry Northern Ireland. Already in Philadelphia at this time was his sister Sarah and brothers James and Samuel. James Laird arrived in Philadelphia on "The Superior" with a friend William Mullen in 1852 from Londonderry. Also a letter from Samuel Laird 1850 to his family in Elaghmore near Londonderry.
